 Mazacote & Maria Ochoa @ Tempo Latino (France) 25 juillet 2009  Retour dans le temps pour se plonger dans la chronologie de la fabuleuse histoire de la musique cubaine. 1946, point de départ pour Mazacote quand il devient chanteur et qu’il intègre son premier orchestre «Le Conjunto Supremo» de Berto Ramos. Les années 50 sont pour lui un tremplin artistique puisqu’il rejoint la célébrissime formation de Felix Chappottin y sus Estrellas… Entre charangas et boleros, le Sonero Mazacote place sa voix dans plusieurs registres musicaux et évolue vers la composition de titres qui rentreront dans le patrimoine cubain. Maria Ochoa, sœur du célèbre guitariste Eliades Ochoa, chanteuse depuis les années 60, sera son invitée pour l’accompagner avec la Sonora Cubana au pays du Son et de la Guajira avec de nombreuses visites du Bolero. www.tempolatino.com Mazacote @ Førde Festivalen, Norway 3 july 2009

 Mazacote and Maria Ochoa is the encounter of two magnificent voices of Cuban music: el maestro sonero Ignacio « Mazacote » Carrillo from Havana and « La Dame de la Musica Campesina » Maria Ochoa from Santiago de Cuba. A new performance in the Cuban music field brought by La Sonora Cubana. These two powerful performers of the Cuban Son represent the roots of the genre... What is emerging from this is a sublime duo, a subtle combination of two utmost artistic styles. A man and a women who both grow up and lived with and for the Afro Cuban music. Mazacote was born in 1927 in Guanabacoa. He is a living legend - member of the AfroCuban All-Stars - who was part of major bands during the Golden Era of the casinos and nightclubs in La Havana, such as the Conjunto Supremo de Berto Ramos, Conjunto Bolero, La Orchesta de Felix Chappottín and La Charanga de Neno González. Maria Ochoa was Born in 1944 in Gran Piedra. She was schooled in the artistic ferment of the local casa de trova ("troubadour"), where she was performing alongside her wordlwide famous brother Eliades Ochoa. The first lady of Cuban country music comes from where the "son" (the foundation, the base of all Cuban music) was born: Santiago de Cuba. These unpretentious singers who communicates a tremendous enthusiasm to their audience seems to be singing out of sheer love. Their raspy, dynamic attack enhance the passionate vocal qualities and deliver some inspired pregones (improvisations) over irresistible rhythms such as guajira, guaracha, bolero-cha, son montuno, mambo... With them, a new generation of Cuban musicians from the Brussels's based band La Sonora Cubana. The group, lead by Chuchi Rivera fuses the genres that constitute the direct antecedents of the son with a more contemporary style, using the creativity, talent and heart of each ensemble member. By featuring those two jewels, La Sonora Cubana fulfills its mission to spread the soul of the Cuban "son" all over the world. The project offers an unique chance to discover the performances of two amazing voices, in a combination never made possible before: Mazacote and Maria Ochoa... in the most danceable way! A gozar! Ils partagent le programme avec Omar Sosa Afreecanos Quartet et Los Van Van, des monstres de la musique cubaine contemporaine ! Du top niveau et un très beau concert en prévision !  |
